Facing a decline in the pursuit of certifications among mid-career professionals, ISACA faced the pressing challenge of redefining its target demographic, uncovering new avenues for expansion, and outlining a concrete strategy to roll out fresh offerings.

Our Approach

Conic spearheaded a comprehensive research and development initiative. They embarked on a qualitative exploration, resulting in the delineation of five distinct "Learner Personas" and the pinpointing of six universal learning objectives within the IT domain. This in-depth research comprised participatory observation at international conferences, an extensive series of one-on-one discussions with existing members about their educational experiences, and outreach to younger non-member demographics to gain insights into their academic trajectories and aspirations. The resultant data fueled the ideation phase, where offerings tailored to each career phase—from high school to retirement—were conceptualized, complete with visual aids, narratives, and essential resources. Culminating this endeavor, Conic led ISACA in handpicking two transformative ideas, assisting in formulating a "Minimum Viable" version for each and crafting an 18-month innovation blueprint for their deployment.

Our Impact

This holistic strategy birthed the 'Lifelong Learning Journey', shedding light on potential value propositions catering to various career junctures, commencing from university. As tangible evidence of its efficacy, ISACA, leveraging this roadmap, successfully piloted new ventures in 2022, a notable one being in collaboration with the City Colleges of Chicago. By acquainting ISACA with the multifaceted learning aspirations and modalities of their members through the learner personas, Conic illuminated the limitations of a one-size-fits-all approach. These personas served as a visual guide to the diverse career trajectories, enabling ISACA to discern opportunities to inject value throughout these journeys.
